Web app

The web app is where most work happens. This page is a tour of what is on each screen.

Files

Your library. Upload here, organize into folders, search by name, and filter by type or visibility.

Each row shows processing status while a file converts. Select a file and the details panel opens on the right with its format, size, coordinate system, feature or band count, and a map preview.

A few things worth finding:

  • Download returns your original file, unchanged. You can select several at once.
  • The info (β“˜) control opens the optimized copy's details, including which display mode a raster was sorted into.
  • Archive hides a file without deleting it. Deleting removes both the original and the map copy permanently.
  • View on map opens a single file in the viewer without building a map first.

Custom Maps

Saved compositions of your layers. Create one, style it, and publish it.

The list sorts by date, title, layer count, or view count, and filters by who can open each map. Each card carries the map link and, for public maps, the embed snippet.

Full walkthrough in Custom maps.

Map

A scratch viewer over your whole library. Toggle layers on and off, restyle them, drag the handle in the layers panel to change draw order, and look around without saving anything.

Use the search button on the right side of the map (magnifying glass) to jump to a place, paste coordinates, find a named feature in a visible layer, or focus a layer by name. The search box opens in the center of the map and closes after you pick a result or cancel. Feature search covers GeoJSON vector layers that are small enough to index (very large layers show a clear unavailable state rather than a partial result).

Styles you set here are your own preferences on that file. They follow you between sessions and do not affect anyone else, or any published map.

Profile

  • API & Integrations creates and revokes API keys for the CLI, QGIS, and MCP.
  • Usage shows storage and tile requests over time, which files get the most traffic, and recent access.
  • Billing shows your plan and opens the billing portal.
  • Sharing & Transfers lists files other people have shared with you.
  • Organization manages members and invitations.

Tile URLs

Any processed file can hand you a tile URL for use outside Sarkoa: MapLibre, OpenLayers, Leaflet with a PMTiles plugin, QGIS, or ArcGIS Pro where the format is supported. Copy it from the file details panel.
